Visitors will experience two safari activities in the Chobe National Park on this day. The activities interchange between water-based game viewing from a boat and land-based open four-wheel game drives and on the Chobe River. Flout and Fauna are bountiful of different areas in one park. When the dry season begins, large herds of elephant and buffalo seek the permanent waters of the Chobe and Linyanti Rivers. Imagine thousands of them, coming sometimes all the way from Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. The park offers some of the best game viewing in Africa.

A morning safari game drive is performed in the Chobe National Park. The insight of the resident trackers and rangers will augment your safari activities, offering the opportunity to learn more about this exhilarating environment and the astonishing species you may encounter. Cruise and witness the abundant wildlife on the banks of the Chobe National Park on the Chobe River Sunset Cruise. Sunset is the best time of day to view the abundant wildlife on the banks of the Chobe River. As the temperature cools, large herds of buffalo, zebra, giraffe and impala can be seen making their way down to the river. Hippos and crocodiles are also common sightings on the Chobe River Sunset Cruise. Elephants frequently cross the river to the islands where lush green grass is available year-round.

The final morning game drive in the north-eastern point of the Chobe National Park is followed by breakfast, after which guests are transferred to Kasane for a brief charter flight to the Savute section of Chobe. The Savute safari area is part of the Chobe National Park. In the wet season droves of herds of plains game and the predators that prey on them are drawn to the area. The late afternoon is dedicated to your first open four-wheel safari drive in Savute.

The day is dedicated to early morning and late afternoon open four-wheel drive safaris. Coupled to the immense numbers of savannah game like wildebeest and zebra, the region is blessed with abundant bird life, which can be viewed around the Savute Marsh throughout the year. These cover Kori bustards, secretary birds, and red-billed francolins, with the summer migrants including Abdim’s storks and Carmine bee-eaters. Bird watchers may be fortunate enough to come across the gathering of Quelea finches – a single herd may comprise tens of thousands of these small birds.

The final morning safari in Savute is followed by a transfer to a local airstrip from where visitors take a brief flight to the Okavango Delta.
