Visitors are shuttled to O R Tambo International Airport for a flight to the town of Victoria Falls. You will be met by a tourAfrika representative upon arrival at Victoria Falls Airport. The journey to your luxury lodge is one-hour drive. The Lodge is an unspoilt wilderness experience, on the banks of the mighty Zambezi river, where Zimbabwe, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia converge. In the afternoon / evening you will embark on your first scheduled lodge activity.

Imbabala offers the chance to unwind but also some of the most amazing game viewing and bird watching in the region, in the seclusion of a private National Parks concession. The 5,000 Acre (2,023 Ha) concession has 14 kilometres of private Zambezi river frontage and borders the Chobe Forest Reserve, which is renowned for its massive Elephant population. You will kick-off with your early morning game drive and brunch at Imbabala Zambezi Safari Lodge. Afternoon high tea before departing on a river safari on the pontoon boat. Often being treated to the sight of wildlife at the water’s edge and water-loving birdlife and provides incredible African Zambezi sunset photo opportunities. Elephant often swim from the mainland onto the many islands to feed there and are seen crossing or feeding on the islands. Hippo are also common here and are usually seen while on the water.

After your early morning game drive, you brunch at Imbabala. Guests are transferred to Vic Falls Town for a tour of the Victoria Falls, a journey that not only affords a view of one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World but provides a great deal of interesting facts about the geology, wildlife and history of Africa’s most famous landmark. Listen to magical tales of local legend while you enjoy the constant spray from the “The Smoke that Thunders”. The Zambezi River originates in the Mwinilunga District in north-west Zambia, 1500m above sea level. More specifically, the source is a marshy black wetland, locally referred to as a dambo, in the centre of the iconic Miombo Woodlands.
Time is spent at leisure in Victoria Falls Town. Lunch at a Café in Vic Falls. Guests are collected for their Upper Zambezi Canoeing Safari in the afternoon. After a game drive through the Zambezi National Park, guests arrive at the riverside camp.
Your guide will give a thorough briefing, which will cover; conditions of the river and rapids, canoeing instruction, safety and general information. The afternoon is spent canoeing the Zambezi. Overnight camping on the banks of the Zambezi River.

A full English Breakfast is served in the morning before an hour game drive upstream to the put – in point. Today is spent canoeing – (18kms) – downstream, running small grade one and two rapids, exploring channels and bird and game viewing. This day includes the Sansimba rapids.
With a total catchment basically covering 1 390 000km² and a length of approximately 2700km, the Zambezi River is ranked fourth when it comes to largest rivers on the African continent. It follows The Nile, The Congo/Zaire, and the Niger. A picnic lunch is served on the mainland or an island.

A delightful English breakfast is served, after which clients board their canoes and the day is spent canoeing another 18 kms downstream to the mighty Victoria Falls. Rapids canoed today include the “Kandahar Rapids”. The scenery, channels and the rapids on both respective days are very different. Cold minerals & beers are served at the end of the canoe safari.
En-route to the Indian Ocean, the Zambezi river flows through a grand total of six countries in total: Zambia, Angola, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, and Mozambique. It spends the most amount of time in Zambia, and the least in Botswana. Interestingly, the river forms the border of Zambia and Namibia, Zambia and Botswana, and Zambia and Zimbabwe.
Clients are transferred the short distance back to Victoria Falls and arrive at The Elephant Camp in the late afternoon. This afternoon guests will enjoy an elephant interaction with Wild Horizons.

Breakfast at The Elephant Camp followed by a morning tour of the Victoria Falls. By far the most notable feature of the Zambezi River is the mighty Victoria Falls. Not to be disregarded, other well-known smaller falls over which the river cascades are the Chavuma Falls in north-west Zambia, and widely inaccessible Ngonye Falls in western Zambia.
After the tour of Victoria Falls guests are transferred to Victoria Falls airport for a return flight back to Johannesburg. Visitors are met by tourAfrika representative upon arrival at O R Tambo International Airport assisted with check-in procedures to your home country or alternatively you are shuttle transferred to any location convenient to you in Johannesburg or Pretoria after an unforgettable tour of the mighty Zambezi Safari.
